Setzler: i have a theory about photographers
Koriyama: go on...
Setzler: photographers forget how to look at photographs
ClubJuggle (to Setzler): Now that you say it, I think that's true.
Setzler: when we look at photos, we are guilty of critique rather than seeing what the photographer wants us to see
ClubJuggle: I think we get too caught up in the technicals that we forget about the aesthetics and about letting the photograph talk to us.
I think this might be just what I need to break out of this rut I've been in. Thanks jmsetzler
for reminding me of this.
Note to everyone: Next time I'm in a photographic rut point me at this post. Current Mood: optimistic

A good day, but long. I started out early this morning with a quick trip to pay my cable bill, then heading downtown for some photography. Among other things, I took some shots for the current challenges at DPChallenge
(current topics are "Fill the Frame" and "In the Garden." I also did some other photography, hitting a couple of my usual favorite locations (Elfreth's Alley and Boathouse Row).
In the evening I headed over to New Jersey to Three Bean Café for a Phoenix Trap
show. It was a good gig, though the attendance was a bit light. They did two more songs I had not yet heard, which once again left me chomping at the bit for a new CD.
Amy. you were missed tonight. A couple of the band members asked about you, as they were expecting to see you with me tonight at 3 Bean. I guess that makes you an official Phoenix Trap groupie now. In any case I'll see you soon. :)
Congratulations to shaysdays

Another week gone by. Last weekend I got out to take some pictures, three of which are posted below. I also visited with my cousins, sadly because their father/grandfather (my aunt's ex-husband) passed away last week. He had been sick for some time, so he is at least at peace now.
Thursday of last week I went to an awards reception for the MS Walk which was in May. In total I raised $1,608 for the walk this year, more than triple what I raised last year. To all of you who contributed to the cause, I can't thank you enough! It really means a lot. I couldn't have done it without you.
In music news, The Phoenix Trap
has back-to-back shows this weekend. Tonight (Friday) they will be playing at 10PM at West End Saloon in Media (Details here
), and tomorrow (Saturday night) will be an all-ages show at Three Beans coffeehouse in Haddonfield, NJ (just over the river from Philadelphia) (Details here
). Catch them while you can, because they'll be quiet for the next month or two!
Also worth checking out on the local music scene is Nora Whittaker
. Her soulful-yet-folky style has a bit of an unexpected edge to it, and is definitely worth checking out. Definitely check out her music
(streaming audio) and show schedule
pages. Unfortunately her show schedule is relatively quiet through August, but picks up again in September.
Also coming up in a week I will be working with Nora to come up with some press pac photos for her. This had originally come about because she was looking for some live show photos (which I will still be doing), but because of schedules that will not happen until September. In the meantime, she asked me to do the press pac photos. This will be a first for me, so I'm a bit nervous but excited too! I'll post the results here.
I guess the next order of business is to figure out what to have for lunch. Feel free to post suggestions (and Kaiti, before you say it, NO).UPDATE:

|Update, in no particular order
Wow... It's been quite a while since I updated this thing, hasn't it. Where to begin? Let's start with baseball.
Lotta baseball lately. 2 weekends ago I went with my friend Mike to the Phillies/Red Sox game. It was an incredible game and the Phillies beat the Red Sox in a suspense-filled 13 inning game that went back and forth a few times.
The following Saturday, I went to the Phillies/Orioles game in Baltimore with Steve. The pregame festivities centered around a 20th anniversary celebration of the Orioles' 1983 World Series win against the Phillies. The Phillies exacted revenge this year, in the form of a sweep of the Orioles in front of a record crowd.
Amy (signs some of her comments here "ABC") left a week ago for her 6-week trip to England, from which she'll be back in August. I've gotten an e-mail or two from her since she got there, and actually even got a quick phone call from her yesterday. She's having a great time and has been doing a lot of juggling while she's over there (none of this surprises me).
Speaking of people named Amy, I just wanted to say a quick hi to Amy from Indiana, a fellow Where's George
user who dropped me an e-mail to let say hi and let me know she might be dropping by here. Welcome!
Shameless plug: I've started selling prints of my photography over at dpcPrints
. This is not paper and inkjet or dye sublimation. These are actual prints produced on top-quality Fuji Crystal Archive paper, rated to last 50 years before fading may occur. Please take a moment to check out my prints as well as those of the other artist on the site (and BUY LOTS!!!) All prints come with a complete satisfaction guarantee.
More to come, I have to head off to work. I'll update from there. Current Mood: happy

|Enticing offer of the day
Well, today I received a spam with not exactly the most enticing subject line ever:
"00% satisfaction or your money back on inkjet cartridges."
I can see it now:Dear spam people,
Your cartridges were great. They worked as well as the manufacturer's cartridges. I got excellent prints from them and was satisfied in every way. When should I expect my refund?

|Deep thought of the day
If an infinite number of rednecks riding in an infinite number of pickup trucks fire an infinite number of shotgun rounds at an infinite number of highway signs, they will eventually produce all the world's great literary works in Braille.
